Principal's Message

Dear Mountain View Families,

It is with sincere honor and excitement that I serve this community as the Principal of Mountain View Middle School. I started by career here in 2005 first as a teacher and it has been esteemed honor and privilege to continue to work with the students and the families of this school in the Administrative role.

I have supported the school site as an interdisciplinary team lead, Science department chair and I have spearheaded various programs that focused on inclusion and providing equitable opportunities for our students.  I am a proud graduate of the Oakwood University in Huntsville Alabama, where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology Education. In 2009, I obtained a Master’s degree from the University of California Riverside in Educational Leadership.  I am currently completing my Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts Global.

I am passionate about providing students with an environment that fosters their growth and development and equips them with the necessary skills to go on to high school and ultimate to college or a viable career path.  I believe in creating an environment that allows students to be SAFEHAPPYHEALTHY and ACADEMICALLY SUCCESSFUL!!!  I am eager to continue building upon the success of Mountain View Middle School.  This year our schoolwide focus in on impacting the Literacy of all our students and ensuring that all of our Panthers acquire the Portrait of a Graduate competencies of adaptability, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity and perseverance

As we embark upon a new school year I am truly excited for all the amazing things this year will bring.   Our partnership is extremely important as we work together to ensure that our Panthers are empowered to become future-ready and positively impact the world.

Regards,

Marissa Smith
